Sell Your RV in Austin, Texas

RVRemovalUSA considers Austin-area RV purchases based on the vehicle, its condition, and actual parking location.

Buying RVs Since 2009 · No Obligation to Accept an Offer · Free Towing With an Agreed Purchase

Describe the condition of the vehicle.

Start With the RV’s Location, Not Its Asking Price

A motorhome parked in an Austin driveway, a fifth wheel kept behind a storage gate, and a travel trailer sitting on a public street present different practical questions when an owner wants to sell.

The first issue is not what a similar RV is advertised for online. It is whether the vehicle can be accurately identified, its condition understood, its ownership confirmed, and its location accessed if a purchase is agreed upon.

RVRemovalUSA considers direct purchases from individual owners throughout Austin and the surrounding area. Dealerships may also inquire. You can request an individual review before deciding whether to advertise privately, consider consignment, or accept any purchase terms.

The inquiry is not an automatic valuation. An offer is not guaranteed, and you remain free to decline one.

Where Is Your Austin RV Actually Parked?

Use the ZIP code where the RV is physically located, not necessarily your home or mailing ZIP code. The vehicle’s location helps identify which parking rules and access conditions may be relevant.

Before submitting your inquiry, consider these three situations.

At a House or Residential Property

Identify whether the RV is in an ordinary driveway, behind a fence, in a side yard, or on another designated parking surface. A gate may open wide enough for a passenger vehicle but not for a large motorhome. A trailer may have adequate space around its sides yet lack room for a tow vehicle to approach its hitch. Describe obvious obstructions. You do not need to attempt a difficult maneuver or take measurements just to request a review.

Inside an RV Storage Facility

Storage arrangements can involve controlled gates, assigned spaces, limited access hours, and requirements for releasing a vehicle. This is relevant around Northwest Austin and the Lake Travis area, where owners may keep RVs away from their homes. If the facility holds the keys, controls entry, or requires an appointment to release the RV, note that in your initial description. Confirm any outstanding fees or contractual restrictions with the facility before committing to a transfer.

At a Repair Shop or on a Public Street

An RV left for repairs may be subject to unpaid charges, property access rules, or release authorization. Check those questions with the business controlling the vehicle. A public street raises different concerns. Parking restrictions continue to apply while you investigate a sale. A purchase inquiry does not authorize extended parking, delay enforcement, or guarantee removal from the curb.

The goal is to describe the real situation, not to relocate the RV before anyone has reviewed it.

What Austin’s RV Parking Rules Mean for a Potential Seller

Austin’s municipal code treats some vehicle types differently. These provisions are worth checking when an RV is currently parked in the city’s jurisdiction.

Motorhomes on Public Streets

Austin City Code Section 12-5-11 addresses self-propelled motorhomes and other qualifying motor vehicles equipped with permanently installed sleeping or sanitary facilities. It restricts parking those vehicles on a public street or alley for longer than 72 continuous hours.

This is not permission to park for 72 hours regardless of other conditions. Posted restrictions and other applicable traffic rules can still affect where the RV may remain.

Travel Trailers and Other Towable Equipment

Section 12-5-10 separately addresses trailers and other non-motorized equipment designed to be towed. It prohibits parking that equipment on public streets.

A detached travel trailer should therefore not be assumed to have the same parking allowance as a qualifying self-propelled motorhome.

Parking on Residential Property

Austin also has restrictions involving front and side yard parking in designated residential areas.

Those mapped restrictions are not the same as a citywide prohibition on storing every RV at home. Applicable zoning and vehicle-storage rules, recorded property restrictions, and HOA requirements may raise separate questions.

Use the City of Austin’s neighborhood planning and parking resources to locate restricted areas and consult the Austin Code of Ordinances for the governing rules.

If you are already dealing with a citation, a notice, or another parking problem, follow the applicable instructions from the relevant authority. A possible RV purchase is a separate transaction.

Different RV Types Require Different Information

RVRemovalUSA considers Class A, Class B, and Class C motorhomes, camper vans, travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, truck campers, and other RVs. The information most useful for review depends on how the particular vehicle is built and moved.

Class A Motorhomes

For a large coach, identify the year, make, model, approximate length, and mileage if known. Describe whether the engine starts, whether the coach has been driven recently, and whether there are known steering, brake, tire, or suspension problems. Also mention slide-outs that will not retract or other equipment that changes the vehicle’s usable dimensions.

Class B Motorhomes and Camper Vans

For a camper van, the chassis and living-area conversion both matter. Note major drivetrain problems, missing interior equipment, alterations from the original configuration, and whether electrical or plumbing systems are known to work. If the conversion was completed by a previous owner, identify what you know rather than guessing.

Class C Motorhomes

A Class C motorhome can have mechanical issues in the driving portion and separate problems in the coach. Explain both where applicable. Cab-over water intrusion, damaged seals, generator trouble, and defective appliances may matter even when the motorhome can be driven.

Travel Trailers

A travel trailer’s running gear and hitch arrangement are important because it cannot move under its own power. Report known problems with the coupler, jack, tires, axles, brakes, or lights. Interior damage should be described separately from towing-related defects.

Fifth Wheels

Explain the condition of the kingpin connection, landing gear, tires, and any known frame or suspension problems. If the fifth wheel is closely surrounded by other vehicles or structures, mention the available access for a compatible towing setup.

Toy Haulers, Truck Campers, and Other RVs

For a toy hauler, describe the garage area, loading ramp, and any relevant mechanical or structural damage. For a truck camper, state whether it is mounted on a truck or standing separately and whether its supports or loading equipment are present. Other camper configurations may also be considered individually.

No RV type is automatically approved for purchase.

Older, Damaged, or Non-Running RVs

An RV may be unused because its owner no longer travels, because a major repair is needed, or because moving it has become difficult. These situations do not all indicate the same condition.

The most useful approach is to distinguish what affects safe movement from what affects the living area.

Mechanical and movement concerns: State whether the motorhome runs, steers, brakes, and rolls. For a towable RV, explain any known problems with the towing connection, wheels, axles, brakes, or landing gear.

Body and living-area concerns: Identify roof leaks, soft flooring, damaged walls, failed appliances, collision damage, or missing components.

Austin-area RVs may be exposed to strong sunlight and severe weather, but exposure alone is not proof of deterioration. Describe actual damage, including any known hail, wind, or flood damage, rather than assuming it occurred.

If a system has not been tested, say so. You can discuss a potential purchase without claiming the RV is roadworthy.

Do not drive, hitch, or attempt to relocate a vehicle that may be unsafe.

Damaged and non-running RVs may be submitted for review. A purchase or particular transport arrangement cannot be promised before the individual circumstances have been considered.

What Determines Whether a Purchase Can Be Discussed?

An advertisement shows the seller’s asking price. It does not establish the terms a direct buyer will offer for that particular vehicle.

RVRemovalUSA considers several pieces of information together.

RV Identity and Configuration

The year, make, model, type, mileage when applicable, floor plan, and major modifications help establish what is being offered.

Actual Condition

Known problems and repairs help distinguish one RV from another. A vehicle with completed repairs may present different considerations from one with active water intrusion or unresolved mechanical damage.

Ownership and Documents

A review may need to establish who owns the RV, whether a lien remains, and which title or other applicable ownership documents are available.

Location and Ability to Release the RV

A vehicle’s accessibility can affect the practical arrangements of a transaction. Gates, clearance, property authorization, storage obligations, and mobility all deserve accurate disclosure.

The review may involve additional questions, photographs, records, or an inspection. No guaranteed valuation or purchase amount is produced by the initial form.

Texas Ownership Documents Before an RV Sale

Texas establishes the underlying motor vehicle title requirements, even when the RV is parked in a particular Austin neighborhood.

Before completing a sale, identify the owner shown on the title or other applicable ownership record and determine whether any lienholder must be involved.

Selling a Texas-Titled Motorhome

Texas Department of Motor Vehicles guidance generally directs sellers to provide a properly assigned certificate of title and a signed Application for Texas Title and/or Registration, Form 130-U, with the relevant sale information.

The assignment and applicable odometer information must be completed according to the vehicle’s requirements.

If a title has been lost, ask TxDMV about the appropriate certified-copy procedure. If a lender holds a recorded lien, suitable lien-release documentation or another satisfactory arrangement may be necessary.

These issues should be resolved before finalizing a purchase, even if the initial inquiry was submitted earlier.

Travel Trailer and Fifth Wheel Documentation

A towable RV’s documentation depends on its legal classification and existing records.

Texas distinguishes trailer categories, and the requirements for a recreational travel trailer should not be inferred from the rules for a small utility trailer.

Check whether the trailer has a Texas title, a different state’s title, or another recognized ownership document. The TxDMV trailer guidance explains the relevant categories and procedures.

Protecting Yourself After a Sale

For applicable Texas-titled vehicle sales, TxDMV advises sellers to submit a Vehicle Transfer Notification within 30 days of the sale.

The notification helps establish that a sale was reported and provides applicable protections against certain liabilities. It does not transfer ownership by itself. The buyer is generally responsible for submitting the title application within 30 days.

Record the buyer’s full identifying and contact information needed for the notice, the date of transfer, and the vehicle identification number. Keep copies of appropriate sale documents.

This protection matters when selling to a licensed dealer as well. Texas explains that a dealer does not necessarily title a purchased or traded vehicle in the dealership’s own name immediately.

The TxDMV buying and selling guide explains the procedures. Austin-area sellers can also review the Travis County Tax Office selling guidance where applicable.

A loan, missing title, estate, or disputed ownership may require additional steps. RVRemovalUSA does not guarantee the resolution of these issues.

Austin’s City Limits and Surrounding Communities

The City of Austin extends into Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties. That creates an important distinction between an Austin address, a county tax office, and the authority responsible for local parking rules.

A seller who lives in Brentwood, South Congress, or Bouldin Creek may be within Austin’s municipal jurisdiction. An RV stored in Cedar Park, Round Rock, Pflugerville, or Lakeway may be nearby but in a separate municipality.

The same distinction can matter around Lake Travis, where an Austin mailing address does not establish that the storage property is within full-purpose Austin city limits.

Check the Actual Parking Jurisdiction

Use the Austin Jurisdictions Map to investigate the relevant municipal boundary. Where the applicable jurisdiction is uncertain, confirm it with the responsible authority.

County title administration is a different issue. Texas motor vehicle law is statewide, but county tax assessor-collector offices handle many registration and title services.

The purchase inquiry itself can be submitted for an RV outside Austin city limits because RVRemovalUSA considers purchases throughout all 50 states. Enter the vehicle’s actual parking ZIP code and explain its location accurately.

How an Austin RV Purchase Inquiry Moves Forward

1. Submit the Basic RV Details

Use the form at the top of the page to provide your name, phone number, RV parking ZIP code, and year, make, and model. The optional message can explain significant damage, title questions, or access limitations.

2. The Vehicle Information Is Reviewed

The details help determine whether further purchase consideration is appropriate. Additional information may be requested.

3. Discuss a Possible Offer

If an offer is made, examine the amount and proposed conditions. Ask about documents, inspections, and other transaction requirements before deciding. You are not required to accept.

4. Confirm Terms Before Completing a Sale

After both parties agree to a purchase, payment arrangements, appropriate ownership paperwork, and pickup or towing details can be confirmed. Free towing is included with an agreed RV purchase. There is no guaranteed pickup date, response time, payment method, or purchase amount.

Request an Austin RV Purchase Review

You can begin without creating a public listing or arranging repairs solely for an inquiry.

Use the form at the top of this page. Enter the ZIP code where your RV is currently parked, along with its year, make, and model and your contact details.

The optional message is useful for anything that may affect a possible sale, such as a gate restriction, a non-running engine, damaged landing gear, or a recorded lien.

Do not include Social Security numbers, bank account information, payment-card numbers, or images of identity documents.

Submitting the form requests individual consideration. It does not create an agreement to sell.

Austin RV Selling Questions

Yes. A street-parked motorhome can be submitted for consideration, but the inquiry does not change any parking restrictions. Austin Code Section 12-5-11 limits qualifying motorhomes and similar vehicles to no more than 72 continuous hours on a public street or alley, and other rules may apply sooner. Continue following posted signs and applicable regulations. A curbside pickup is not guaranteed.

No. Austin Code Section 12-5-10 separately prohibits parking trailers and certain other non-motorized towable equipment on public streets. The 72-hour motorhome provision should not be treated as a general allowance for detached travel trailers or fifth wheels. Check the current code and the exact circumstances before relying on any parking interpretation.

You may submit an inquiry using the RV’s actual parking ZIP code. Explain whether the facility has restricted access, a required release authorization, limited operating hours, or an enclosed space. Any outstanding storage obligations or necessary permissions would need to be addressed before a transfer. A submitted form does not authorize entry or schedule collection.

Start with the city’s official restricted parking area map and confirm the applicable local rules. Austin’s front and side yard restrictions apply in designated mapped areas, not automatically to every home. Separate zoning, vehicle-storage, and private-property restrictions may also matter. The City of Austin neighborhood planning resources provide a starting point.

Yes. RVRemovalUSA considers purchase inquiries beyond Austin city limits. Provide the vehicle’s actual parking location rather than an Austin mailing address. Surrounding municipalities are separate jurisdictions, so Austin’s municipal parking provisions should not automatically be applied to them. Any purchase and movement arrangements require individual confirmation.

No. Texas establishes the general vehicle-title requirements statewide. However, your county can affect which tax assessor-collector office handles an applicable title or registration transaction. Austin extends into Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties. Check the appropriate county office for your paperwork rather than assuming every Austin address belongs to Travis County.

Describe the specific known obstacle to movement. For a motorhome, explain starting, rolling, steering, braking, and tire conditions where known. For a fifth wheel, identify problems with landing gear, the kingpin area, axles, tires, or access for a compatible tow vehicle. An individual review is possible, but acceptance and towing cannot be guaranteed. Do not attempt unsafe movement.

No repairs are required merely to request consideration. Explain the damage accurately, identify any completed repairs, and distinguish confirmed problems from conditions that have not been inspected. Actual water intrusion, hail damage, or structural deterioration may affect whether an offer is possible. Do not assume that weather exposure alone means the RV has a particular defect.

You may still describe the RV and its documentation situation in an initial inquiry. Completing a sale may require a certified copy of a missing title, appropriate lien-release documents, or another valid resolution. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles provides relevant procedures. RVRemovalUSA does not guarantee title recovery or loan payoff.

For applicable Texas-titled vehicle sales, TxDMV advises filing a Vehicle Transfer Notification within 30 days. This includes situations where the buyer is a licensed dealer. The notification is separate from the buyer’s title application and helps establish the reported sale date. Keep your transaction records and consult the TxDMV selling instructions.

You are free to decline a proposed offer. Sending the form does not create a sales agreement or guarantee that an offer will be made. If RVRemovalUSA and the owner agree to a purchase, free towing is included with that purchase. Towing is not offered as a free standalone disposal service, and pickup timing is not guaranteed.
